Chief Analyst — Chemistry (Laboratory Services, Grade D2)

About the Role
Reporting to the Head, Laboratory Services, the Chief Analyst (Chemistry) supervises technical laboratory operations and ensures accurate, timely analysis of medicines.
Duties:
- Supervise technical operations and ensure laboratory analysis meets set timelines.
- Assist the Head of Division with technical operations, administration and financial management.
- Ensure generation of accurate analytical reports by subordinate staff; check and review analytical reports.
- Monitor and evaluate laboratory processes, systems and programmes; ensure effective implementation of QMS, SHE and quality standards.
- Develop and review staff job descriptions, performance contracts and appraisals; ensure training and competence programmes run on schedule.
- Ensure timely maintenance, service, calibration and internal verification of all equipment.
- Lead operational and process re-engineering for continuous improvement; ensure all analytical methods are verified and validated, and provide troubleshooting.
- Develop and manage the RCORE training programme.

Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical Technology or equivalent.
- MSc in Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Pharmaceutical Chemistry is an added advantage.
- At least five (5) years' post-qualifying experience in Quality Control and/or Quality Assurance of medicines in a pharmaceutical manufacturing or regulatory environment.
- Sound knowledge of cGLP implementation and an understanding of cGMP requirements in pharmaceutical QC/QA.
- Expert knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment management.
- Effective interpersonal and public-communication skills and proficiency in English.
