About the Role

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

A. Plant Commissioning

1. Lead mechanical completion checks, pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning of crushing, milling, flotation, and dewatering circuits

2. Develop commissioning schedules, test procedures, and performance test protocols

3. Ensure plant is handed over safely and meets design throughput, recovery, and product quality

B. Mineral Processing & Optimization

4. Oversee and optimize crushing, grinding, flotation, gravity separation, and tailings handling for copper and chrome ores

5. Conduct metallurgical test work, mass balance, and sampling to improve recovery and reduce costs

6. Monitor reagent consumption, power usage, and equipment performance

C. Technical & Training

7. Develop SOPs, operating manuals, and safety procedures for all processing areas

8. Train and mentor local operators and technicians on plant operations and process control

9. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical and commissioning reports

D. Compliance

10. Ensure all operations comply with EMA, Mines & Minerals Act, and company HSE policies

11. Liaise with engineering, maintenance, and production teams for seamless start-up

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS

- BSc in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering

- Minimum 5 years experience in mineral processing, with at least 2 years in plant commissioning

- Proven experience with copper and/or chrome processing plants

- Strong knowledge of flotation, comminution, process control, and metallurgical accounting

- Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and work under pressure during start-up

- Must be willing to be based in Mhangura
